In our Blog of May 2024 we discussed how insurance payments for windshield repair are less than they were two decades ago while the cost and profits of replacements have doubled and quadrupled.

Many repair technicians are not dealing with the deception, fraud and steering that goes along with filing a windshield insurance claim with their customers -so they are having the consumer pay them directly and then the consumer goes to their insurance company to be reimbursed. 

 

The price of replacements has more than doubled and quadrupled in the last decade due to ADAS and recalibration while the insurer payments for repairs (average of $65.) are less than they were over 18 years ago.

 

The rates you can charge for an Ultra Bond chip repair are in the range of $100 to $165.

 

Long cracks used to be reimbursed as 3 chip repairs before the flat rate implemented by Safelite to the Insurers. Long Cracks are going for $150 to over $200. 

 

Below at the bottom of this page is a link for a document for you to download and print to give to your customer to give to their agent or whoever they are dealing with so that they do not get Short-Paid.

NOTE: on your invoice or on the below documents write the insured's (1) insurance policy number and (2) Date-of-Loss, which is the date the break occurred to the windshield. It  is also recommend that with your customers cell phone or your cell phone take a picture of the break. Use a coin next to it for focus and size before and after. Also take a picture of the back of the vehicle which shows the make, model and license plate.

Cell phones have free fax apps and can also scan your invoice and the reimbursement document. If your customer does not have a fax or a (free) fax app on their phone you should do it and send it from your cell phone with the pictures.
